The Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Dr. Dinesh Sharma, participated as the chief guest at a programme organised by Chinmaya Mission on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and Mangalacharan, followed by a felicitation of senior citizens.
The Hon’ble Lt. Governor appreciated the efforts of Chinmaya Mission towards the respect, care and well-being of senior citizens, observing that the elderly are a valuable heritage of society. In his address, he called upon society to remain sensitive towards the needs and dignity of senior citizens. He also emphasised that old age should not be associated with a mindset of “retired but tired”. He said that the experience and wisdom of senior citizens contribute significantly towards building a stronger, more harmonious and happier society.
Swami Puneet Chaitanya (Swami Shuddhanand), Acharya Chinmaya Mission, Shri Surendra Prahladka, President, Chinmaya Mission, Shri Manohar Singh, President, Chinmaya Vanaprastha Sansthan, along with several devotees and members of Chinmaya Mission, were also present on the occasion.
