On the occasion of "World Tourism Day", I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the people of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, our visitors, tourism professionals, entrepreneurs and all stakeholders who are contributing to the development of tourism in these beautiful islands.
The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are a precious jewel of India's natural and cultural heritage - where pristine sea shores meet blue-green
waters, dense tropical forests provide shelter to rich biodiversity, and magnificent coral reefs flourish beneath the sea. From the historic Cellular
Jail and the memorials of our freedom struggle to scuba diving, snorkelling, kayaking, island excursions, eco-tourism and world-class opportunities for nature-based experiences, our islands present a unique confluence of nature, adventure, history, culture and peace.
The theme of this year's World Tourism Day, "Reimagining Tourism through a Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence", highlights the immense potential of technology to transform tourism in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. By using digital platforms, artificial intelligence and smart solutions, we can showcase our unique natural, marine, adventure and heritage attractions to the world, improve tourist experiences, facilitate tourism services and promote the islands as a smart, sustainable and globally connected destination.
Our endeavour should be to utilise these immense opportunities through responsible and sustainable tourism, so that livelihoods are created, local communities are empowered and the fragile ecosystems and unique heritage that truly make the Andaman and Nicobar Islands "India's Island Paradise" can be protected.
